“I Was an OYO Investor”, Now Seeking Investment From OYO?

Whether it’s an early-stage startup or a well-established corporation, investment acts like fuel, enabling a business to expand and meet its operational needs. Investment is when someone gives money to a business with the hope of getting more money in return. Startups seek investment because they need money to grow and make their ideas real.

Investors, on other hand, want to invest because they believe the startup will do well, and they want a share of the profit. Shark Tank India – the reality TV show on SONY- also works as a bridge between investors and investment seekers.

The show works as a platform where people with ideas (entrepreneurs) try to get money (investment) from successful business experts (investors) to make their ideas come true.

But, in a surprising turn of events on Shark Tank India, Anand Nahar, the founder of Zorko, shared an intriguing investment story involving Ritesh Agarwal, the renowned founder of OYO Rooms.

Anand Nahar revealed that in the early days, he had attempted to invest in Ritesh Agarwal’s startup, OYO, which was gaining popularity at the time.

Back in 2019, Anand had reached out to Ritesh Agarwal to explore investment opportunities in OYO. But the mistake he made that instead of contacting right person, he contacted the OYO’s customer care which according to him couldn’t understand his request, and the investment collaboration did not happen.

Another reason he mentions that OYO’s founder had already secured funding through the prestigious Thiel Fellowship. A video on it has recently been shared by Shark Tank India Official twitter handle where the person can be seen interacting with the sharks.

Fast forward to the present day, Anand Nahar, now the founder of Zorko, made a surprising revelation on Shark Tank India. He presented evidence of his past attempt to invest Rs 5 crore in OYO

But now, standing as an investment seeker in the show, he’s expressing his desire for Ritesh Agarwal to consider investing in his food startup Zorko that claims to launching over 150 outlets within 17 months that’s too without any outer investment.

But the special highlight was Anand Nahar revealation which including other judges surprised Ritesh Agarwal. The OYO-founder is a 29-year-old first-generation entrepreneur, is not only the founder of OYO Rooms but also a recently debuted judge on Shark Tank India Season 3.

With a reported net worth of over $2 billion as of 2022, Ritesh Agarwal is being said one of the richest judge on the popular Sony Reality TV show. As of January 2022, Ritesh’s company OYO’s valuation was around $9 billion.

Like Zorko, more stories of entrepreneurs and their journeys on the STI, showcasing the evolution of businesses and the cyclical nature of investment opportunities in the dynamic start-up ecosystem.
